In recent years my work has been concerned with my birthplace, a once utopic country now ruined by a dictatorship. The frustration of watching people suffer at the hands of a corrupt government, families being torn apart & thousands of Zimbabweans unable to go back home, has been inspiration for my 'Zimbabwe Series'.
My current work explores the journeys we take - both physically and emotionally, and how these journeys affect us as individuals. How relocation affects our cultural identities. I am interested the concepts of belonging, displacement, shifting cultures and the growing phenomenon of Diaspora and Exile. This new body of work reflects loss, movement, readjustment, and our subconscious need to connect the unfamiliar with the familiar.
